Competing against 80 players in the Under 1400 section, Matthew became the champion with a phenomenal score of 5.5 out of 6 points. At the 2026 NJ State Scholastic Tournament, Bryce Lin delivered an outstanding performance that showcased exceptional skill and focus on the board. He earned an impressive 4.5 out of 5 points, highlighted by a notable win and a draw against 1500-rated opponents. These strong results reflect his excellent technical preparation and deep understanding of the game. Capping off this wonderful achievement, Bryce proudly took home his biggest trophy to date. Congratulating our student Anvay
Please join us in sending a massive congratulations to our very own Anvay Sharma for his incredible performance at the 1st Annual New York Metro Area Scholastic Chess GRADE Championships, held recently at the New York Marriott Marquis in Times Square! Competing in the first-grade section, Anvay captured an impressive 2nd place finish with a near-perfect score of 5.5 out of 6. This phenomenal run not only earned him a spot on the podium but also boosted his US Chess rating by about 200 points, rocketing him to nearly 1200. We are incredibly proud of your hard work, dedication, and brilliant moves on the board, Anvay—keep up the fantastic work!

Chess In Millburn Academy is proud to sponsor the chess tournament again, which features various competitive levels specifically designed for students in grades K-12. All proceeds from the tournament go directly back to Millburn schools to fund vital educational programs.

We would like to congratulate our students who joined the 03/29/26 NJ Brookdale K-12 Scholastic Championship. There were 3 sections in this tournament: K-2, 3-5 and 6-9. There were 105, 176, and 151 players in each section respectively.

Join us for the Chess In Millburn 93rd Tournament on Sunday, March 22nd, at 27 Bleeker Street. This USCF-rated event kicks off at 1:30 PM sharp and features a 4-round Swiss system with competition sections for players rated Under 600 and Under 1200. Be sure to arrive by 1:15 PM and complete the $35 Zelle registration by 1:00 PM on the day of the event to secure your spot!

Ready to put your strategy to the ultimate test? Join the Chess In Millburn Rated U1800 Tournament this April for four weeks of high-stakes, rated competition! Whether you're looking to climb the ranks or defend your rating, this four-round Swiss System tournament offers the perfect arena for players rated between 1000 and 1800. Matches take place every Thursday night at 7:00 PM (April 2nd, 9th, 16th, and 23rd) at 27 Bleeker St. in Millburn. With a 60-minute time control and a prize pool of up to $315, the stakes are as high as the level of play. Registration is available for $75 per day or $330 for the full week.
